M4 CP - Book Cover Design (Part 2)

For this project, I recreated Tony Fletcher’s biography, Moon.

A night sky with stars is incorporated on the back and front cover as the overall background. In the upper right side of the front cover, is a bass drum that is reminiscent of a moon, and a crescent formation is seen on the right side. Keith Moon’ band logo, The Who, is placed on the bass drum/moon. On the spine of my design is The Who's logo, a red, white, and blue target.

Some of the tools used for this project is perspective warp on the moon image in the right corner, and an outer glow effect on the typography. The gestalt principle of continuation is seen in my summary of Fletcher’s biography. When looking at this design, your eye moves downward in the curved direction.

I like the joining of the back and front cover, and the spine that is blanketed by the night sky.
Although I portrayed a play on words of the moon and Keith Moon, it is more of a tribute to the fact that he is no longer with us, and lives on through his music with The Who.

Included below is Tony Fletcher's biography:

Book Cover Design (Part 1)

Recently, I read a biography on Keith Moon, the drummer from the rock band The Who.

My designs reflect Tony Fletcher's biography Moon.

In my first sketch, I would incorporate a collage of photographs of Keith Moon surrounding the title of the biography, Moon. The arrow on the "n" reflects The Who's logo, which the "o" in "who" has the same arrow. This is Tony Fletcher's design on his biography. I included The Who's logo below.

On the spine, I will use the same typography that is shown on the front cover. The back cover of my design would include a textbox of my description of the biography, and The Who's other logo, a blue, red, and white target. The target is also shown above.

In my second sketch, the front cover will have the night sky and stars as the background. In the upper right corner is a bass drum that is reminiscent of a moon, there will be a crescent formation on the right side. The moon/bass drum will have The Who's logo inside of it. Below, I have included the title of the biography near the bottom of the cover.

In the spine and back, I will continue with the night sky and star background. The description of the book will be placed in the middle.

In my final sketch, I incorporated a picture of Keith Moon playing his drum kit. The title of the biography is in a curve direction above The Who's logo, a target.

The spine will be of the same typography of the title design. On the back, there will be a picture of Keith Moon and the rest of The Who's band members, below will be my description of the biography. There will be a second picture below the description, just of Keith Moon.

M3 CP - Awareness Poster (Part 2): Student Debt Outweighs Jobs

In this awareness poster, I wanted to show what I believe is a sad injustice for graduating students. I say "injustice" because of the abuse of politicians irresponsibility, with regards to the job market. Students have incurred large debts with very weak job force available to them. Many jobs are outsourced and colleges promise jobs to graduating students in their prospective fields, only to under-deliver. There are cases where college students are suing colleges, because there is no work for them to back their high loans.

I used the scales of justice to depict the injustices of student debt, outweighing the amount of jobs. Below the scale, I included a shocking statistic provided by Forbes, "Student Loan Debt Is Now $1.31 Trillion (Friedman, 2017)."
